10 Worst WWE Moments Of 2001
8. Chyna Squashes The Women’s Division
Life away from the ring wasn't kind to Chyna in 2001. She was going through a lot of personal turmoil after finding out that her lover Triple H was having an affair with Stephanie McMahon. Unfortunately for the '9th Wonder Of The World', that power struggle was only going to end one way. Most of the heartache would come later in the year, surely, but '01 had to be tough generally for her.
Make no mistake though: Chyna was becoming harder to deal with behind the scenes for WWF management. Jim Ross has revealed via his 'Grilling JR' show that the celebrated revolutionary thought she was far too good for the women's game, and that came across in her performances during a late-run sprint towards the Women's Title.
Chyna didn't want that belt in the first place, because she thought she should be pushing upwards in the main event mix and making "Stone Cold money". JR told her that was never going to happen, but tried to allay fears that she'd be anything but a big star. Still, Chyna wasn't just squashing Ivory when she ran right over the top of her at WrestleMania X-Seven; she was squashing the entire women's division like it meant nothing.
She was gone from the company after beating Lita in another largely one-sided showing at Judgment Day. It's the Ivory moment which stands out most here though. A talented worker showing her wares on the grandest stage like Ivory should've got something to call her own in Houston.
Instead, she was gobbled up and spat out by someone who didn't even want to be champion.
