10 Worst WWE Origin Stories

2. Papa Shango

Since his debut in 1990, Undertaker has pretty much had a monopoly on magic-doing in WWE. Except, that is, for a little over a year between 1992 and 1993, when he was joined on the roster by Papa Shango.

Shango's shtick was that he was a voodoo practitioner, his origin story presumably being that, blessed with the gift of being able to cause harm to people without laying a finger on them, he decided he was a prime candidate to conquer the world of professional wrestling.

That actually sounds like an eminently sensible use of his ability, but shockingly he remained in the position of a novelty mid-carder, coming out on the losing side of a WWF Title match with Bret Hart on a particularly uneventful edition of Saturday Night's Main Event.

After numerous failed gimmicks, he eventually found his natural place as The Godfather, whose own background is probably best left unexplored.
