On SmackDown around the same time, Kofi Kingston lapped up fan appreciation for his exhausting performances in Gauntlet bouts. Everyone was on the same page, and (almost overnight) Kofi went from token tag act to genuine WWE Title push contender. It was amazing to witness for long time fans.

It's just a shame that, pre-WrestleMania on pay-per-view, Kofi had to settle for throwaway crap.

Vince McMahon's grand opportunity for Kingston at Fastlane ended up being a five-minute handicap beating at the hands of The Bar. Great storytelling that added sympathy to the babyface, but it didn't need to be on the card. This could easily have taken place on SmackDown and nobody would've missed it on the Network special.

Worse, Kofi vs. Sheamus and Cesaro followed a Mandy Rose vs. Asuka snore that almost made it on here too. That went just over six minutes, meaning WWE had blasted through two matches in 11 minutes on a four hour pay-per-view. Oops.
