10 Worst WWE PPV Matches Of 2021 (So Far)
3. Alexa Bliss Vs. Randy Orton
Where: Fastlane
Why It's Here: There's nothing wrong with intergender matches if they're promoted correctly, although it is understandable when some (*cough* Jim Ross *cough*) view them as far-fetched or best-avoided. WWE went for shock value before Fastlane by announcing that Randy Orton would battle Alexa Bliss.
Everybody knew Randall wouldn't be blasting Alexa with draping DDTs, RKOs or power slams, and those same folks probs realised that this was all designed to prolong Orton's interminable feud with Bray Wyatt that was examined earlier. It was exactly that - Wyatt (the crispy version, at least) returned after several minutes of stalling and stunts to cost Randy the match and give Bliss the win.
The insinuation that Alexa controlled her chargrilled monster was clear, and yet everybody wondered aloud where WWE would go next. The answer? A magically-restored 'Fiend' returned on Raw 24 hours later and set up one more match with Orton at WrestleMania.
The intergender dealio was more angle than match.
