Why It Sucked WWE had so much talent to work for this show as the roster was positively loaded at the time. Triple H, The Undertaker, The Rock, Eddie Guerrero, Ric Flair, Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle Hulk Hogan... Pretty ridiculous, huh? Sadly, the always-anticipated King of the Ring turned out to be a dud this year. The tournament itself was nothing to write home about and it was pretty obvious that Lesnar was walking away as King. The cruiserweight title match between Hurricane and Jamie Noble was decent but nothing more. Ditto the five-minute Trish Stratus versus Molly Holly Women's Championship match, a bout built around Molly supposedly having a big bottom. Yes, really. Hulk Hogan versus Kurt Angle was praised at the time but after watching it back it's standard Hogan formula stuff and a bit of a waste of our favourite Olympic gold medalist, to be honest. Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair never really seemed to find their groove in their match, which is surprising considering the vast talents of both men. Then there was the main event, an Undisputed Heavyweight Title match between Triple H and The Undertaker which was absolutely nothing like the scorchers they'd have in later years. It was a lethargic, overlong brawl with an overbooked finish. Avoid. Did Anything Redeem It? The Y2J vs. RVD opener was good, but not as good as Jericho claimed it was at the time. Infuriated that online critics hadn't universally awarded the bout five stars, he penned a venomous letter to the 'smarks' published via his website where he questioned the merit of the reviewers and suggested that if they didn't think the bout was amazing that they should take up bowling instead. Claws, Chris!
