10 Worst WWE Raw Main Events Ever

6. The Rock Vs. Mr. Ass & Chyna - 26 July 1999

A handicap match that goes eight minutes and doesn't have a finish. A guest commentator who spends the entire match repeating the same two or three lines over and over before punching an announcer. A run-in that is more of a run-through. A show that goes off the air as The Rock is about to hit a People's Elbow, as a main event feud is brawling on the outside.

The Attitude Era is remembered with buckets of nostalgia, but the final segment of the 26 July 1999, RAW is a great example of how messy it all was. The Rock went up against Billy Gunn and Chyna in a handicap match in the main event, a nothing match that was all by the books and suffered for it. Gunn actually hit Rock with a piledriver two minutes into the match, but it didn't seem to have much of a long-term effect. Chyna? Well, she was pretty terrible in the ring.

The main problem is Hunter. He spends the whole match ranting at JR, telling Ross that he can beat Austin, that he will beat Austin, and then repeating the same questions over and over again. It drags the match down and then some, to the point where fans were begging Triple H to just get on with it and hit Ross, allowing Stone Cold to come down and put this show out of its misery.

This was the Attitude Era in a nutshell. A forgettable bout of wrestling that wastes everyone's time before a hot ending, albeit a hot ending with little finality.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
