10 Worst WWE Raw Main Events Ever

7. Diesel Vs. Sir Mo - 7 August 1995

When I was a child, I really enjoyed Men on a Mission. Maybe it was the bright colours of the gear, the energy, the size, or maybe it was the acronym, but what caused the enjoyment is not so important. Looking back, enjoying Mabel and Mo was one of my more blatant mistakes.

The duo turned heel in the summer of 1995 and Mabel won the King of the Ring, but it is this wretched main event from August of that year that sticks in my memory, for reasons I cannot fathom. King Mabel was awful in the ring but at least he had the shocking size; Sir Mo was just plain bad. Put him in against a small guy and you might get something serviceable, but this was WWE in 1995; there weren't many small guys.

Diesel definitely wasn't a small guy. He was a very big guy, a tall dude who happened to be the WWE Champion at the time. Mabel was scheduled to challenge for the title at SummerSlam so Big Sexy was to face Mo on an episode of RAW, a match that went seven minutes, which is six minutes longer than it should. It was all lumbering rest holds and smoke and mirrors, which conspired to make Diesel look weak and Mo look like, well, Sir Mo.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
