10 Worst WWE Raw Main Events Ever

2. John Cena & Randy Orton Vs. The RAW Roster - 17 March 2008

To be exact, that should be John Cena & Randy Orton vs. Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Gene Snitsky, Santino Marella, Carlito, Hardcore Holly, Cody Rhodes, 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan, Val Venis, Brian Kendrick, JBL, Umaga, Charlie Haas, DH Smith, Paul Burchill and Robbie McAllister. Two poster boys against 16 grown men, a group that included the then-World Tag Team Champions (Holly & Rhodes). Oh, and it was an elimination match, by the way. If ever there was a match designed to make your entire roster look like sh*t, it was this.

Considering the men involved in the match, the work itself wasn't awful. How could it be? It worked like a mini Royal Rumble, idiot after idiot getting a couple of spots in on the stars before being hit with an RKO, AA or STFU. Once you got past the strange image of so many men stood on the apron, the match descended into farce. It was a farce from the get-go.

The most jobber of the jobbers on the RAW team were eliminated before all hell broke loose and the match was thrown out, a schmozz finish for a 16-on-2 match. This accomplished nothing and made the majority of the roster look like complete geeks in the process. If ever there was a main event designed purely for self-sabotage, this was it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
