Remember that time on RAW, when Stone Cold Steve Austin was ordered to apologise for cracking Mr. McMahon with a bedpan in order to gain entry into the Survivor Series 1998 Deadly Game tournament?

It was an iconic Attitude Era moment; Austin gingerly pressed his toes into the ground, wiggled his heel with his knee bent inwards, and, with his hands held behind his back, said "Sowwy, Vince, I won't do it again! Sowwy!"

Why?

Why did Becky Lynch have to apologise to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon for attacking them?

Yes, this narrative development did inch her closer to the main event of WrestleMania 35, but she had already won the Royal Rumble match. The very nature of fictional storytelling means the author can essentially do what they like. WWE could have manoeuvred the Road to WrestleMania without reversing backwards into Lynch like she was a cat timidly walking out of the garage.

Lynch, who wore both a t-shirt and a leather jacket proclaiming her The Man, was subservient to the man, and the man, Vince McMahon, rendered her both doormat and mug when he just suspended her, regardless, leading to more convoluted bullsh*t.

One of too many missteps that cooled her off, this damaging, unnecessary angle underscored the idea that WWE simply enjoys putting the thumb on talent.
