10 Worst WWE SummerSlam Posters
1. SummerSlam 1993
Let's take a trip back to the summer of 1993. With Yokozuna crowned as the new WWE Champion, the company was at the mercy of an anti-American monster heel who had proven himself dominant and unbeatable. On July 4, though, hope emerged when Lex Luger bodyslammed Yokozuna on the deck of the U.S.S. Intrepid. All-American babyface Luger was soon named number one contender to Yokozuna's title, and the two headed for a SummerSlam showdown.
Luger never took off as the new top babyface, though, and it's clear from the SummerSlam 1993 poster that the WWE machine was only half-heartedly behind him. After all, Luger is featured nowhere on the poster - it just shows Yokozuna giving his signature Banzai Drop to a flag. Maybe Luger's tour bus broke down on the way to the photo shoot.
There's also the "Fat Chance" tagline, which is more puzzling than anything. Does it mean there's a fat chance that Yokozuna will actually slam his behind on America? Or that there's a fat chance of stopping him? All it really does is remind fans that the WWE Champion was morbidly obese.
While this poster - unlike many others on the list - does convey a sense of urgency, it's too ridiculous and confusing to be anything but a major misfire. One would think the company that had Luger ride a helicopter onto an aircraft carrier would be better with imagery.
