10 Worst WWE SummerSlam Posters
2. SummerSlam 2003
There's no question that during the Attitude Era and the years following it, WWE very much subscribed to the old axiom "sex sells." While it might have worked in some areas, though, there's no proof that revealing PPV posters ever helped sell event buys, despite the fact that some people might have been fooled into thinking they were watching porn.
The poster for SummerSlam 2003 might have been the boldest attempt, as it featured a naked Sable with random graphics covering up those areas that are typically covered up by clothes. It goes without saying that this had nothing to do with the show, and even though WWE's fanbase is predominantly made of straight men, it's hard to imagine that a face-off between Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle wouldn't have done a better job of promoting the event.
To be fair, while this poster is objectively terrible, I can't write it off completely. While I was training at Lance Storm's Storm Wrestling Academy (summer of 2007), the full-sized version of this poster (think 30 feet tall) was hanging from the wall, as it was one of a few that WWE had donated to Lance. I even referenced it in a promo that's been lost to the annals of history.
Still, it's awful.
