Though John Cena and Chris Jericho worked a passable main event and an Edge surprise comeback supplied a genuine thrill, Survivor Series 2008's uneven card was almost certainly given the short shrift from Dave Meltzer thanks to an abysmal Triple H/Vladimir Kozlov scuffle that should be played on giant screens in India as fair warning of what to expect when Hunter does his 'burly babyface vs husky foreigner' schtick on the December india tour.

It was unforgivably awful. Kozlov had been SmackDown's token dominant heel that summer, advancing from boring squashes over jobbers right up to boring victories over Jeff Hardy and The Undertaker. But 'The Game' was in refreshed form on the blue brand, even dragging an exciting encounter out of The Great Khali for his beloved belt at SummerSlam earlier that year.

Those with optimism were punished for their foolishness. The contest was supposed to be a triple threat including Hardy, but the 'Charismatic Enigma' was allegedly in rough nick before the match. The storyline was supposed to heavy-handedly imply that Jeff was battling demons, but a January twist revealed Matt Hardy (and definitely not nor never Christian...) had been decking him all along. Edge's return to steal the title in the match was literally too little and too late. Surprises are awesome, but that was a simple sacrifice to avoid having to suffer through the eventual end result.

Don't ever watch that match. Or do. But don't.
