Ric Flair played a major role in his first WWE pay-per-view, but like most of his supercard appearances during his maiden stint with the organisation, he wasn't permitted to be enough of 'The Nature Boy' to show company loyalists exactly why his arrival was such a big deal.

'Slick Ric' was at the centre of all the genuine drama on an otherwise tepid card. He inauspiciously survived in a star-laden opener after virtually every other competitor was counted out in a brawl, and an intervention on behalf of The Undertaker in the WWE Title clash cost natural rival Hulk Hogan his precious gold.

Unfortunately, the match that took place before his interference was absolutely diabolical. Hogan and 'The Deadman' worked at a snails pace and did almost nothing before a closing stretch finally gave fans something to cheer.

Elsewhere, the elimination matches were sacrificed in favour of promoting a 'This Tuesday In Texas' pay-per-view the following week. It was a particularly lousy tactic to announce Randy Savage and Jake Roberts' absence from the event as it started, rather than before the card. Their interviews to promote the Tuesday clash rubbed salt in an open wound.
