Sometimes "smart" fans aren't as smart as they think.

WrestleMania 34 looked set to close with Roman Reigns avenging his loss in the main event of WrestleMania 31 by winning the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar.

Fans were already annoyed that Reigns was once again being pushed into the main event spot at the expense of more popular performers and were equally as annoyed at Lesnar for never showing up to defend the championship. So it really was a lose-lose situation.

However, the writing on the wall wasn't as clear as it first appeared.

Lesnar and Reigns had a really weird match. They basically just hit their finishers on each other over and over again for fifteen minutes. Reigns got busted open real bad, so there was a load of blood everywhere. And, to cap it all off, Lesnar pinned Reigns out of nowhere to retain the title.

Erm...

Fans really didn't know how to react. They were pleased that Reigns didn't win, but also confused that the story didn't reach its logical conclusion. Things continued to be confusing for the next few months, until Reigns finally beat Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Bad. Just bad.
