It's amazing to sit WWE newbies down and tell them that Mahal once held the coveted WWE Title for 170 days. Then, you tell this wide-eyed person that his title reign happened in 2017 and watch them lose their minds. To newcomers, it'd be like saying Humberto Carrillo was Universal Champion a few years back.

Like Shanky, Jinder hasn't really had even one good match throughout 2022. You'd have to go all the way back to SummerSlam 2021 and a battle vs. old 3MB pal Drew McIntyre for Mahal's last worthwhile showing, which really says it all. He's another who might struggle to fit in when he returns from injury.

Sadly, especially considering his prior push, Jinder was the kind of worker who forced many to hit the fast forward button when he came onscreen this year. SmackDown viewers knew they were about to see a nothing match. At least they were usually short, eh?
