This year, Kurt Angle will go into the WWE Hall of Fame, providing us with something resembling closure after he left the company under difficult circumstances back in 2006. But as great as that induction will likely be, it’s not quite the same as an actual farewell match at WrestleMania.

Angle’s last official outing on WWE programming came at an ECW taping against Sabu, with their number one contender’s bout ending as a no contest—hardly the most fitting finale for somebody of his calibre.

Although injury worries could prove to be a major stumbling block, Angle deserves at least one more match on the WrestleMania stage. And thankfully, this year’s Hall of Fame induction opens up a door or at least offers a glimmer of hope that such a match could eventually come to fruition at some point.

In terms of an actual opponent, there’s no shortage of options: a passing of the torch moment with a newcomer? A meeting with John Cena to bring their rivalry full circle? Or maybe you just pair him with AJ Styles and watch the magic happen. Either way, one more ‘Mania match for Angle is very much something we’re still waiting for.
