10 WrestleMania Openers Better Than The Main Event

4. Fatal 4-Way Tag-Team Title Match ('Mania 13)

Most wrestling fans generally agree that Sycho Sid vs. The Undertaker failed to end WrestleMania 13 on anything resembling a high note. Yes, it was cool to see 'Taker win the WWF Heavyweight Title and pose as the show went off the air, but the action in his match against Sid was decidedly lacking.

The opening clash of the pay-per-view didn't suffer from the same problems, and was, conversely, around 10 minutes of pure entertainment.

Some may claim that teams like The New Blackjacks were hardly inspiring, but they were joined by the likes of The Godwinns, Phil LaFon and Doug Furnas, and The Headbangers.

In other words, there was a lot of variety in the match. Both The Blackjacks and Godwinns were rough and tough brawlers, LaFon and Furnas provided some technical flair, and The Headbangers were just plain weird.

The match was to decide new top contenders for the WWF Tag-Team Titles, and it delivered enough to create interest in the division.

'Mania 13 is naturally remembered best for the classic between Bret Hart and Steve Austin. Had that been the main event, this one likely wouldn't be included, but it was miles better than Sid vs. Undertaker.
