10. Chris Jericho Was Supposed To Main Event WrestleMania 2000
WrestleMania 2000 is noteworthy for being the only WrestleMania to feature a fatal-four way as its main event, with The Rock v Big Show v Mick Foley v Triple H. The Rock and Big Show both made it into the match due to the controversial Royal Rumble ending months earlier, Triple H was champion, and Mick Foley was a last minute addition as he didnt want to retire without main eventing and having his WrestleMania moment. That wasnt always the planned match, however, as Chris Jericho mentions in his second book, he once drove past a billboard for WrestleMania 2000 that featured himself in the fourth slot. When the match was announced, and Jericho wasnt in the main event, he took it to heart that he wasnt delivering the best he could and resolved to improve his work ethic. While Chris Jericho didnt main event that year, he had arguably the best match on the card against Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit for Angles Intercontinental and European Championships. His hard work would eventually pay off two years later when he main evented WrestleMania X-8 as champion, against Triple H.
