One of the main draws of WrestleMania since the beginning has always been the convergence of professional wrestling and pop culture superstars. Everyone remembers the classic main event tag team match of Rowdy Roddy Piper & Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff v Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, but at the time everyone was scared that Mr. T would get cold feet and not turn up on the day. According to Hulk Hogan, Mr. T got scared a few weeks leading up to the event, and actually vanished during training one day, only to be found drinking wine with a homeless person. When it came to the day of the event, Mr. T didnt turn up until two hours before the show was set to start, and nearly didnt get in the building due to the size of his entourage. Due to his entourage not being allowed in, Mr. T tried to use that as an excuse to leave, but Hogan stood in front of the limo and wouldnt let it through until he got a chance to talk to his partner. Eventually everything was settled down, and Hogan had the new problem of convincing Paul Orndoff not to shoot on Mr. T and break him in half. The reason why Jimmy Snuka accompanied Hogan and Mr. T to the ring was because Vince McMahon needed a back-up partner in case anything went wrong with Mr. T. The match, thankfully, went as smooth as planned and the success of WrestleMania brought wrestling into the mainstream like never before.
