Yes, Adam Cole is a better heel, but that doesn't mean that he can't play a strong face, he already has both in ROH and NXT. AEW has already had one star-making feud born out of a member of The Elite turning face in the form of Hangman Page, so there is no reason it won't work with Adam Cole.
Cole doesn't even need to clash with his Elite teammates despite it being the obvious choice, he's just that popular. There aren't many wrestlers in the current landscape that produce as big of a reaction as Adam Cole Bay Bay, you just have to listen to the eruption of the crowd in any arena that he walks into to know that. The man is a deadset megastar and will be cheered no matter what he does. The fans want to get behind him and will tune in weekly to support him against whatever dastardly heel is standing in his way.
Imagine the programs that he could have being the good guy for a change, Kenny Omega, MJF, Bryan Danielson and Malakai Black could all produce outstanding programs for a good guy version of Cole. The possibilities are truly endless with Cole being a face.
