10 Wrestler Allegiance Switches That Must Happen In 2022
9. Wardlow - Face
The big man bodyguard that protects the little man heel is a classic wrestling trope that always ends with the big man battering the little man after being mistreated and this will be no different with MJF and Wardlow. This has been a turn that has been slow-burning for a while now, as MJF and his henchman have displayed increasing amounts of tension as the weeks pass. Just recently, MJF threw Wardlow out of the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal and the big man did not look at all pleased and that's just one of many examples that you could draw upon. The turn is coming, you can just feel it.
At some point within the next year, Wardlow should quite rightly have had enough of MJF pushing him around and treating him like a mindless bodyguard and leave him high and dry, after one of the all-time beatings.
Despite being portrayed as a monster heel his entire AEW career, there is no doubt that the crowd would embrace him as a mega face, purely because they hate MJF so much. The feud could keep both men busy for a good chunk of 2022 as well, potentially getting two Pay-Per-View matches out of it as well. MJF has already had two blood feuds in Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho, its time to have a third, this time with Wardlow.
