10 Wrestler Deaths WWE Didn't Acknowledge

5. Nancy Benoit - 2007

Nancy Benoit had a notable career in wrestling, laying the groundwork for future divas in her role as 'woman' in both ECW and WCW. Unfortunately her 15 year contributions to the wrestling industry were overshadowed by who she married and the circumstances of her death. Chris Benoit murdered Nancy by apparently strangling her to suffocation. The WWE star then proceeded to kill his son, before taking his own life. At the time of the grisly discovery, WWE didn't really know what had gone on, so they held a 'Chris Benoit Tribute Evening'. Although Vince McMahon claimed that WWE were paying tribute to the Benoit family, no mention or footage from Woman's career was shown. The next day it was revealed that Benoit had in fact murdered Nancy, wiping out any chance of WWE paying tribute to her memory. Instead Vince McMahon appeared on TV to say all mentions of Benoit and his heinous act would never be mentioned on WWE TV again. Nancy's place in wrestling history was hidden away in the process, WWE obviously didn't want anything to do with a story which involved one of their top talent being a murderer.
