Despite all of her years in WCW and ECW, Nancy Benoit will mainly be remembered for being murdered by her husband in one of the biggest scandals to ever rock the professional wrestling industry.

In the mid-’80s she married longtime veteran Kevin Sullivan, and accompanied him to ringside off-and-on for years. In 1989, she joined WCW and became the manager of Doom as “Woman”, and then she later played the role of a valet for the Four Horsemen. In ECW she managed her husband, and then later on The Sandman. During this time she even got in the ring for a Singapore Cane match.

When she returned to WCW she met Chris Benoit, who her husband had been feuding with on air. In the storyline, Woman was having an affair with him. Kevin was one of the bookers in the promotion, and his old school approach to the business caused him to tell his wife to travel with Chris to further the angle. Unfortunately for him the two fell in love. Chris and Nancy got married, and she quietly retired from the business.

On 25 June 2007, Nancy and her son Daniel were murdered in their Atlanta home. Before all the details came in WWE ran a tribute show to Chris. Once management realized the full story, they apologized and vowed to never mention Chris again...which also lead to Nancy basically being erased from history as well.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
