10 Wrestlers AEW Has Already Made Better

Sammy Guevera's first two AEW matches made it impossible to get a read on how the promotion intended to push him.

'The Best Ever' entered a solid but unspectacular performance against Kip Sabian on the Double Or Nothing pre-show, falling to the Englishman in a shade under 10 minutes. Then, at Fight For The Fallen, he teamed with MJF and Shawn Spears in a match designed to highlight the former Tye Dillinger and sow seeds for an All Out clash between their dysfunctional opponents. On both occasions, Sammy G was "just a guy."

This changed on Dynamite's maiden voyage. An excellent heel performance highlighted by Guevara pulling Brandi Rhodes in front of her diving husband put him over huge, despite the loss to Cody. Later, Sammy hooked up with Chris Jericho and the rest of the Inner Circle in the show-closing angle and now, after spending years almost breaking out on the global indie scene, he's one of AEW's most villainous young prospects.

Guevara was already a world-class athlete with natural cocky charisma. Now, he's starting to develop a superstar aura, and who better to learn from than Jericho?
