10 Wrestlers AEW Must Push In 2022
5. Jake Atlas
While nowhere near main event-calibre just yet, Jake Atlas is a promising young prospect on the AEW roster. Before the unfortunate botch (he'd do well to study Shelton Benjamin vs. Shawn Michaels from RAW in '05 for that leapfrog-into-superkick spot), the former gymnast was having a fun match with Adam Cole on Rampage.
Showing off his graceful movement and crisp, agile offence, Atlas performed exceptionally well in his first crack at a major match in AEW. The supremely athletic Atlas has all the tools to put an exciting, fast-paced match together. All he really needs is a bit of time and breathing room to further refine his budding craft.
At 26, he's young enough that AEW can take their time building him up. A slow burning push on Dark and Rampage primarily could polish Atlas enough to reach his full potential. As a character, he needs more development but is not without some charisma and babyface charm either.
In 2022, Jake Atlas is a longterm project that could reap great rewards before the year is out. Hopefully AEW give him the chance WWE did not and let him finish finding his voice and style.
