10 Wrestlers AEW MUST Sign Next

1. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn got as far as he was ever going to get in WWE when he had that ill-fated May 2015 Raw debut vs. John Cena. His journey could have gone in an entirely different direction had Zayn not injured his shoulder while making his entrance.

That he then went on to wrestle a banger as part of Cena's impeccable United States Championship open challenge series is a testament to his work ethic. Well, unless you're Vince McMahon sat behind the curtain, losing your sh*t at the former El Generico scarpering your plans.

In short, if Sami gets his way, don't expect him to stick around once his contract expires "this fall". When, exactly, that is, we don't know.

From a business perspective, there isn't a valid reason for WWE to fight for Zayn to stay, other than to keep him away from the competition. It's the reason for the mass releases they've gone through in 2021; they hoarded talent, forgot about most of them, and Vince found out. Sami likely won't receive the infamous Johnny Ace phone call because he'll revert to being a top-tier star once he's off the WWE payroll. They should be fighting to keep him, so long as they find a justifiable reason to do so.

If Sami Zayn wants to create more highlights before hanging up the boots, All Elite Wrestling is his place.
