10 Wrestlers AEW Plucked From Complete Obscurity

3. Nick Comoroto

Jon Moxley was f*cking livid after being screwed out of his AEW World Heavyweight Championship by Kenny Omega, Don Callis and whomever conspired to attack him backstage in the build-up, and woe betide whichever fool signed an open contract to face him on the January 21st 2021 edition of Dynamite.

Then, as if from a cave painting of early man, the incredible Nick Comoroto arrived.

Naturally, he didn't fare all that well, but the key point was that he looked like he could, and the impression he made on a still-stuck-inside pandemic audience was more than just a novelty passing fancy.

A heel turn as part of QT Marshall's hostile takeover of the Nightmare Factory hasn't yielded much to write home about yet, but the thrill is in seeing what this enormous hairy husk of a monster can eventually do when the company deem him ready to do it. Things take time, curation and creative consideration, and the 30-year-old wasn't getting any of that on NXT's Largo loop before the pandemic cuts sent him packing.
