You haven't seen him since Royal Rumble, but this AWOL WWE star is about to make a splash.

WWE has officially announced that Royce Keys will make his weekly television debut on Friday's episode of SmackDown. Fans haven't seen much from the former AEW man since his debut back at the 2026 Royal Rumble over in Saudi Arabia this past January. It's been a bit of a wait for the one time Powerhouse Hobbs.

That wait will end this weekend.

The company posted a 3-minute video detailing his arrival via social streams and on their YouTube channel. In it, Keys describes a controversial upbringing in East Palo Alto, California, and said he'll use that troubled past as fuel to fight for the future. It was typically dramatic, but a decent shot at another first impression for Royce.

It doesn't look like he's going to be a standard muscle/meathead kind of character. Instead, WWE's writers want to use the man's real-life childhood as a means to add depth and make him more relatable. Fingers crossed it works, because Triple H has played the waiting game on Keys since bringing him in.

Royce entered the Rumble as #14 and lasted just shy of 10 minutes before being eliminated by The Vision's Bronson Reed. Before being tossed out, he'd eliminated Damian Priest from the match, but WWE's announcers didn't reveal which brand Keys would be tied to. It turns out it'll be the blue one.

Since debuting, Royce has only worked dark matches before SmackDown, but he did also sit down for a well-received interview with Stephanie McMahon for her podcast. It'll be what happens on TV inside the ring that counts most of all though.
