10 Wrestlers AEW Saved From Retirement
7. Jake 'The Snake' Roberts
The soaring highs and crushing lows of Jake 'The Snake' Roberts' life have been aired in public for all to see. Sadly, his infamous battles against his personal demons eventually overshadowed his wrestling career.
While he managed to work through them, it still seemed his time in the industry was up after he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. However, AEW allowed the legend to write a new chapter to his story, one that gave him another chance in the business.
Roberts shockingly appeared in-person on AEW Dynamite in 2020. It had been years since anyone had seen Roberts on TV, with sporadic appearances here and there (including a cameo in The Road to All Out), but nothing as big as this. He eventually aligned himself with Lance Archer, and became a regular part of the show.
He played a significant role for a time, delivering cold promos and helping to get Archer over. Sure, it might not have worked out for The Muderhawk Monster, but it was worth it to see Jake Roberts again.
Nowadays, Roberts acts as a special advisor for AEW Together, a community outreach program. Seeing how far this man has come is inspiring, and AEW played a big part in that.
