10 Wrestlers Better Off For Having Worked With Mick Foley
9. The New Age Outlaws
Mick Foley was already a fairly established star in WWE, known primarily for his work as Mankind, when "Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Badass" Billy Gunn formed the New Age Outlaws tag team.
Brash, cocky and arrogant, the duo had thoroughly disrespected and beaten the legendary Legion of Doom before setting its sights on Foley.
The Hardcore Legend was beaten so badly on so many occasions by the team that it knocked him right out of Dude Love mode and necessitated the return of Cactus Jack, who recruited friend and mentor Terry Funk (as Chainsaw Charlie) to combat the tag champions.
The feud elevated the importance of the Outlaws in the WWE Universe. A team consisting of two guys who spent the previous year jobbing to any and everyone they squared off with, the feud with Foley and Funk catapulted them to the top of the industry.
Not only did it drag out of them a ruthlessness that was essential to being more than just a solid midcard act, it also gave the Outlaws their first quality opposition.
Sure, Hawk and Animal were a legendary team but they were clearly past their primes while Foley was squarely in his, one of the most recognisable stars in the industry by early 1998.
He lent credibility to a young duo and prepped them to become half of the wildly successful D-Generation X faction that would help revolutionise the sport.
