10 Wrestlers Fans Hated For Dumb Reasons

8. Rey Mysterio Should Have Been Daniel Bryan

Rey Mysterio has been a fan-favourite for almost his entire career. There is no other wrestler who can match his loveable underdog persona. Whilst this hatred Mysterio received dissipated rather quickly, it was toxic while it lasted.

The 2014 Royal Rumble was an absolute disaster. Not only was it evident from the beginning who would be taking the crown that year, but the performer many wanted to see contend for the position of the last man standing didn't even make an appearance in the match. The audience waited eagerly for their hero Daniel Bryan to appear, but it was becoming more apparent as the entry numbers went along that the chances were slim.

Finally, at number thirty the familiar sound of Rey Mysterio's entrance music hit and the crowd erupted into boos. This must have been a strange moment for Mysterio who had never received such a reaction in his career. Whilst the hate was not entirely directed at him, for a moment lovable luchador Mysterio was the world's most hated wrestler.

Thankfully it took almost no time at all for him to separate from this reception. He would end up leaving the company and returning in 2018 to a much better pop.
