10 Wrestlers Fans Hated For Dumb Reasons

7. Seth Rollins Is Stale Because He's A Babyface

Seth Rollins as a character has given fans plenty of reasons to despise him, yet it was always hard to hate the performer as his in-ring work was always top-notch. He had the respect of the crowd, which is why when he won the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35, audiences were thrilled. Yet a couple of months later Rollins was one of the most hated wrestlers in the company and even to this day he hasn't entirely shaken this off.

His run was indeed incredibly uninspired, and Rollins lacked fire, but everyone turned on him, claiming that he didn't work as a babyface champion. From his Universal Title run, you could kind of understand this point. However, it was factually inaccurate, because Rollins had recently been thriving as a face champ. His run with the Intercontinental belt was fantastic and very likely what led WWE to push him to the top as a babyface. The same thing that he was being cheered for a few months earlier was now considered his biggest weakness.

It goes to show that anticipation is often more potent than reward. But it's not fair to blame and hate a great performer because our expectations were too high.
