In truth, you only had to read the title of this list to realize who would be coming in at number 1. The Voice of the Voiceless, the Second City Savior, Chick Magnet Phil, CM bloody Punk. It’s the most well documented and scrutinized story in modern wrestling and it will continue to be discussed until the day wrestling disappears from the face of the earth.

CM Punk wanted nothing more than to be given his due by WWE. He believed he should have been in the main event of WrestleMania. Most would agree he had a strong case even before the Pipebomb promo. And after said promo, the fans wanted no one other than the Straight Edge Superstar to be the top name in the company.

Sadly, Vince and co. simply did not agree. Even during the months following that promo, i.e. the Summer of Punk, he was made to look like an idiot by Kevin Nash and lost to Triple H. His legendary 434 day title run was ended so Cena could get his win back against The Rock, he wasn’t allowed to end the Streak and somewhere in there you also had the staph infection controversy.

It was all too much for Phil, as the sport he loved and dedicated his life to had become an albatross around his neck. And so came that fateful moment when CM Punk, one of the biggest stars in the world of wrestling, walked out, possibly never to return to the ring ever again.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
