The Narcissist was one of the most disliked wrestlers in the business during the 90s. Coming from a professional football career, wrestling was never Luger's passion and many of the boys resented him for it. Luger was pushed to the top of WCW, despite being green as grass. He had a great look (one of the best of the era) but he was very limited in what he could do in the ring or on the microphone. When he started to get the push, the resented started and it wouldn't subside even when Luger improved and had great matches with the likes of Sitng, Ric Flair and The Great Muta. When he moved to the WWF in 1993 he continued to alienate the locker room with his prima donna behaviour and didn't make many friends. Luger never did anything particularly horrible like hazing rookies or committing any huge locker room sin, he was just arrogant and self-entitled. He has admitted as much in recent interviews, after suffering a bad stroke and becoming a born again Christian. In 2003, Luger was involved Miss Elizabeth during the time of her death of an accidental overdose and WWE aired an episode of the short-lived show Confidential that essentially blamed him for it. A lot of the wrestling world turned on Luger for supposedly defiling the innocent Liz.
