10 Wrestlers Having A Disappointing 2022
4. Ruby Soho
Despite debuting the same night as Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson, Ruby Soho still managed to resonate as a big deal. Never given her due in WWE, it was exciting to see what Soho could do with the right opportunity. Fans, particularly those who remembered her pre-WWE days, thought she would thrive in AEW. Or perhaps she could be the talent needed to elevate the entire women’s division.
Nearly a year later, the former Riott Squad leader has underwhelmed in the ring and become another woman lost in the shuffle. She hasn’t been helped by getting dragged into Eddie Kingston’s beef with the Jericho Appreciation Society.
After getting her hand slammed in a car door, she also bore the brunt of Anna Jay’s heel turn. Losing control of a shark tank above the AEW ring, Ruby inadvertently helped hand Chris Jericho a win over Eddie Kingston. Teaming with Ortiz, the babyfaces then failed to gain revenge in a mixed tag loss to fellow JAS members Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo.
At this point, Soho’s been stigmatised as a loser. Thanks to AEW’s disinterest in showcasing its women properly, she’ll struggle to turn that perception around. In a recent interview, Ruby has even starting hinting towards retirement. While this is pure speculation, a 31-year-old talking about winding down their in-ring career doesn’t sound like someone having the best time at work right now.
