10 Wrestlers Promoters Were Afraid Of

8. Haku

Any list of wrestling's most afeared men, no matter the context or specifics, would not be complete without a customary mention of Tonga's toughest nose muncher, Haku.

Nobody, not a member of the public, a fellow wrestler or an entire police battalion, emerged victorious from a scrap with Haku. Nobody. So for that reason, all his colleagues - up to and including his bosses - walked in slippers on eggshells around the pugnacious Pacific Islander.

Chris Candido recounted one story from Haku's time in WCW, in which higher ups Eric Bischoff and Greg Gagne interrupted a conversation between himself, Chris Jericho, and the Face of Fear. Haku (or Meng, as he was known then) turned toward the pair and icily instructed, "Apologise to my friends, I'm talking." Fighting for control of their collective bladders, the chastened execs acquiesced, and waited patiently for Haku to finish. Bischoff joked years later that Haku was never fired from WCW because "no-one had the balls to do so!"

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
