10 Wrestlers Promoters Were Afraid Of

4. Brock Lesnar

Only one man can stand up to Vince McMahon in the 'Gratitude Era' and get away with it: Brock Lesnar. Rather than buying into the myth that he's living the dream, that he should be thankful for the opportunity with the Greatest Sports Entertainment Company in the World, 'The Beast' knows full well he's more valuable to WWE than they are to him. He could drop it all in a heartbeat without any appreciable pecuniary damage: it's all really just a question of how much money he wants for his barn of old rope.

As the industry's only true star in Vince's eyes, Brock has his employer hopelessly over the barrel - a fact he leverages whenever contract renewals come up. McMahon is desperately afraid of losing Lesnar. Why else would he pay him so much to do so little?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
