10 Wrestlers Set To Make Their WrestleMania Debuts

4. Kalisto

WWE Creative has done everything in its power to botch the singles push of Kalisto. As WrestleMania arrives, though, the masked luchador figures to be the only midcard champion to defend his title in a traditional singles bout. Wrestling Observer Radio reports that Kalisto will defend the United States Championship against Ryback in a rivalry that has been teased on Raw and dates back to the upset win the much smaller competitor scored over The Big Guy prior to Survivor Series last November. Kalisto has the ability to be the modern equivalent to Rey Mysterio, a dynamic performer whose mask allows him to be marketed and merchandised to the masses. He could be the lovable underdog, an inspiration for kids the same way the Master of the 619 once was. He can be that guy, but WWE must fully support him. Mysterio succeeded because he was allowed to beat guys like Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. Kalisto dropping tag matches to Sheamus and being pummeled by Rusev will do him no favors as he continues to find his footing as a singles star. Luckily, he will have the opportunity to showcase his skills, to prove his worth as he battles an opponent with a completely different style in Ryback. That is, if persistent reports are accurate. If their match is anywhere close to the quality of their original bout on SmackDown in November of 2015, Kalisto will earn himself favor with his bosses.
