10 Wrestlers That Can't Exist In Real Life
9. Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy's gimmick can't exist in real life... but why would he want it that way?
Teleportation might have p*ssed off a few purists when Hardy first arrived in All Elite Wrestling to confront Chris Jericho on behalf of The Elite, but it was informed by just about everything else he's put into the gimmick since devising it in 2016. Nothing is real, because leaving reality behind was the best thing for him.
Few performers have permission to float between personas as Hardy does, all within the the context of his character. Finding the perfect balance for his gimmicks to all work on their own terms in the immensely profitable twilight of his career, the elder Hardy stretches suspension of disbelief without snapping it. Compared to younger brother Jeff having to open up about his very personal battles for an alcohol-fuelled feud with Sheamus, Matt's commitment to a bit half a world away is breezy and believable.
