10 Wrestlers That Fell Off HARD
5. Jack Swagger
There was a time when Jack Swagger showed a lot of promise. His athletic build, tall frame, and All-American gimmick painted the picture of great talent with a strong career ahead of him. But that was a long, long time ago.
Swagger, also known as Jake Hager, began his career in WWE's Wish version of ECW, where he won the ECW Championship. This momentum eventually carried him onto the main roster, where he would show some promise. After unsuccessful attempts to win the US Championship, he was thrust into the main event after winning the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashing it in to gain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Sadly, his run with the belt did not go well. He simply wasn't ready to hang with the big dogs and needed a little more time in the oven before trying to break into the main event. He hadn't built enough momentum and, as such, always felt like a weak champion. This led to the reign falling flat, causing him to be lost in the shuffle. One run in The Real Americans aside, his WWE career never found much traction again.
After leaving WWE, he played a role in Lucha Underground and even became the promotion's last-ever World Champion before it was cancelled. However, that momentum did not carry over into his current position in AEW, where he, again, plays a lacklustre background role.
