10 Wrestlers That Knew They Were Saying Something Stupid As They Said It

And yet it wasn't even the worst of that series of NXT.

WWE, doubling down on the disaster, gave Michael McGillicutty promo time instead of actual victor Keval when the former Low-Ki romped home as winner of the second season of NXT. The future Curtis Axel had been far from perfect throughout but there was a certain belief that Curt Hennig's son was going to approach a level akin to his father at some point in his career. He further bantered off the theory by delivering a speech that served as a tonal and total opposite to the vignettes that rocket-strapped his Dad's run.

With confused host Striker and Keval still looking on, McGillicutty paused and preened for a reaction that never came before he effectively spoilered the rest of it.

"I don't know what to say..." he started, before having a go at the crowd for not choosing him only to give them all the ammo they needed to justify their decision. "I am the future of this company. I am gonna be a big player in this machine called WWE. I am the next big thing..." was a transparent salvage job gone wrong before he even made it to the good (bad) bit. And so it went, "...from this moment on...this'll be the moment...starting now...of the genesis of McGillicutty".

Wild and young!

It'd take getting booked against Triple H two years later for him to look as trapped.
