10 Wrestlers That Lost Titles Due To Serious Contract Disputes
5. Devon (TNA Television Championship)
Devon beat Robbie E for the TNA Television Championship at Victory Road (2012) and would end up being the longest-reigning champion in the title's history.
TNA rewarded Devon for getting in the best shape of his career and he defended the belt weekly on TV in enjoyable matches. What was equally impressive was he was never beat for the belt, with TNA stripping him of the gold in September after not being able to come to terms on a new deal at the last minute.
Devon commented at the time:-
“A lot of fans speculated different things, and rumours were running rampant. Safe to say, I have no ill feelings towards TNA at all. It’s just that we could not come to an agreement before the 28th, and the deal ran out.”
It would be the first time he and Bully Ray would not be competing in the same promotion since 1996. Devon wound up returning to the company as a member of Aces & Eights a few months later though, and actually beat the man who won the vacated TNA Television Championship whilst he was gone Samoa Joe.
