10 Wrestlers That Made Fans Change The Channel

7. Jon Moxley (2020)

Edge Lita Live Sex Celebration
AEW

Jon Moxley is the rarest of birds in mainstream North American wrestling at present, and not just because he's the first top babyface in nearly 20 years to embody and embolden enough qualities to actually be received as such by the entire audience.

Though the figures aren't comparable to Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan, Moxley can be classified as a "draw" by all contemporary standards. WWE deemed pay-per-view dead in 2014, yet AEW found 100,000 buyers for Chris Jericho/Moxley at Revolution, Moxley/Brodie Lee at Double Or Nothing and Moxley/MJF at ALL OUT. His google rankings dwarf everybody else in the organisation aside from 'Le Champion' and his quarter hours routinely dwarf others on both Wednesday shows.

John Cena was considered a house show hook for years for WWE. If he was there, the audience had at least one good reason to buy a ticket. In an era with no live event component to the business model, Moxley is doing the same - and isn't having a detrimental impact on the midcard below him to remain in the spot.
