10 Wrestlers That The Undertaker Couldn't Get Over

4. Mabel

While some giants and monsters in the industry only receive a short run before their limitations are badly exposed, Mabel actually had quite the run in WWE. He started with the company in 1993 and finished up with them in 2008. While he was released on multiple occasions during that time frame, it certainly was an impressive career in terms of longevity.

After his time in Men on a Mission came to an end, Vince McMahon saw dollar signs in Mabel and booked him to win the 1995 King of the Ring tournament. After he came up short against Diesel at SummerSlam 95, he was placed into a feud with Undertaker. They fought in a dark match at In Your House 3, then they formed teams to face off against each other at Survivor Series with Taker's Darkside defeating Mable's Royals. However, that was just a warm up for In Your House 5, where Taker defeated his large opponent in casket match in six whole minutes.

After that, Taker set his sights on Bret Hart. Mabel soon found himself unemployed. He had picked up a reputation for injuring his opponents, and an errant legdrop to Undertaker’s face broke his orbital bone (which is why he briefly wore a Phantom of the Opera type mask). Even without him hurting people, his days as a featured wrestler were sure to be short. His in-ring work was sloppy and lacked any sort of urgency. He also couldn’t cut much of a promo. Taker tried to make something work with The King, but there was no chance in hell of it working.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
