10 Wrestlers The Fans Turned On
6. X-Pac
This one is just plain disrespectful.
Like the Cena entry earlier, it is nice when an underappreciated worker is finally given their flowers in the latter stages of their career. Unfortunately for Sean Waltman, it wasn’t until deep into his semi-retirement that those compliments became common.
A truly inventive presence on the wrestling industry during the early '90s, Waltman exploded onto the scene as the 1-2-3 Kid, shocking the world with his win over major star, Razor Ramon. He would go on to be an integral part of both the nWo and Degeneration-X, considered the two most influential stables in wrestling history.
X-Pax was a tremendous in-ring talent, and was used as a litmus test by Vince McMahon to see if new additions on the roster could actually go. If they could have a good match with X-Pac, then they were fine. Similar to how Dolph Ziggler has been used over the past few years.
Unfortunately, as we entered the 2000s, fans tired of X-Pac, and whilst everyone else in DX moved on, he clung to the aesthetic and the attitude, similar to how Reigns did with the Shield. ‘X-Pac Sucks’ chants echoed whenever he was involved and the horrendous term ‘X-Pac heat’ was coined.
Nowadays, Waltman is a respected voice in the wrestling community, but he deserved way better from the fans.
