10. WrestleMania X8 - Rob Van Dam
WrestleMania X8 has to go down in history as a huge letdown of a show. Aside from the spectacle of The Rock versus Hulk Hogan, there wasn't really a lot lot to it. The undercard featured matches like Goldust agains Maven and DDP taking on Christian. Elsewhere, Edge and Booker T fought over a shampoo commercial and Triple H and Chris Jericho failed to hold the crowd's attention after Rock/Hogan. Flair versus The Undertaker was decent considering Flair's limitations and lack of confidence at that time but 'Taker would have been best used against somebody else. That somebody else? 'Mr. Monday Night' himself, Rob Van Dam. RVD kicked off the show, beating William Regal for the Intercontinental Championship in a rushed match. Even though the WWE had tried their best to cut RVD's legs off from under him by booking him in nothing mid-card feuds, he was still incredibly over and the fans would have bought him as a challenger to 'Taker. Hell, Van Dam was just about one of the only people that did look competitive against Undertaker in 2001. Undertaker, after tearing through the alliance and no-selling everything in sigh, actually took a load of RVD's offense in their (underrated) Hardcore Championship match at Vengeance that year. Later in 2002, 'Taker made Van Dam look competitive during their Undisputed Championship match on Raw (another good match). Clearly, Van Dam and The Undertaker had some sort of weird chemistry. Undertaker wasn't exactly renowned for his great matches during this time but Van Dam would have brought the best out of him.
