10 Wrestlers Too Good To Be Ruined By WWE's Bad Booking
5. Drew McIntyre
The current WWE Universal Champion had a hell of a journey to get where he is today. His first run with WWE was forgettable at best, laughable at worst, and even on his triumphant return he still had to jump over a few Creative-shaped hurdles on his way to dethroning Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.
Given how well McIntyre has been booked as a dominant champion in 2020, it makes us wonder what WWE were thinking when they were booking him the previous year. Woefully miscast as Shane McMahon's heel enforcer, McIntyre spent the first half of last year losing to Roman Reigns in high profile matches. Even after his much-needed split from Shane, McIntyre still finished 2019 without a single win on PPV.
Yet the audience refused to give up on him. Poor booking couldn't mask Drew's unmistakable X-factor, and fans everywhere duly exploded when he booked his title shot at this year's Royal Rumble. McIntyre would continue to draw volcanic reactions in his feud with Lesnar, leaving everyone watching with no doubt as to where the future of the company lay.
Eleven years after being described as a "future world champion" by Vince McMahon, Drew McIntyre proves that the best talent will always find their way to the top. (Even if they take the scenic route to get there).
