8. Io Shirai

And speaking of The Genius of the Sky, while she still may technically be under WWE contract at time of writing, news of Io Shirai reportedly coming to the end of her current deal and still not having signed an extension led to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer going as far as to state that she was "pretty much gone" from the company at this point.

The former NXT Women's Champion would, of course, debunk these apparent rumours by posting a "sick face" emoji on Twitter. But it had become increasingly difficult to imagine a world where such a generational talent would be given the sort of respect and presentation she unquestionably deserved on a main roster led by the same head of creative who hasn't had the greatest track record of pushing epic super-workers from Japan over the years.

However, the former head of NXT stepping up to the main roster plate recently will no doubt act as a serious difference maker in convincing Shirai to stick with her home of the last five years, with The Game never being shy about his admiration of arguably the "greatest female performer today in-ring."
