Remember Royal Rumble 2020?

It was only 10 months ago but may as well have taken place in a different century, given everything that happened since then. Nonetheless, the event was a total banger, delivering two excellent incarnations of WWE's signature over-the-top-rope battle royal, great singles matches between Daniel Bryan and The Fiend and Becky Lynch and Asuka, and one of the most cathartic Rumble returns ever.

Edge's comeback was beautiful. While rumours of it had fluttered prior to the event, the prospect seemed too good to be true. It had been nine long years since he had last set into the ring, having been told that he risked paralysis if he kept going, so hearing the clock hit zero, "You think you know me," and the Alter Bridge barrage didn't seem real. Even Edge himself looked like he was struggling to comprehend what was going on as he made his entrance. Throats were screamed hoarse, tears were shed, and a red-hot audience luxuriated in pure, unbridled euphoria.

While 2020 won't go down as a banner year for wrestling, at least it gave us this all-time-great moment. Here's to Edge's recovery from injury and eventual comeback.
