10 Wrestlers We're Most Thankful For In 2020

6. Britt Baker

The award for 2020's most stunning wrestling turnaround surely belongs to Britt Baker, who went from awkward vanilla babyface to the most well-defined heel personality in her division shortly after the Jericho Cruise, where she turned on the audience and belittled the beloved Tony Schiavone.

Getting injured that spring should have been disastrous for Baker, who was in career-best form when her knee failed her. This wasn't the case. Wheelchair-bound and with her leg in a cast, Britt took on AEW makeup artist Rebel (not Reba) as her assistant, unravelled conspiracy theories backstage, and remained the most magnetic figure in the women's division. It was a crash course in how to stay relevant without the ability to wrestle. Weekly promos on Big Swole, Tony Schiavone, and even Aubrey Edwards showcased a performer at the very top of her game, and while Baker's return yielded a misstep in the Tooth and Nail match, she has since recovered her best form.

Baker is great at her job. She is a gigantic personality in a division that has suffered greatly from a lack of character development, and a bright beacon of hope for the future. Strapping her makes all the sense in the world if AEW is to push this part of its product forward.
